ABOUT US

Hi, I'm Austin

I'm the founder of Sioux City Distilling Company. I'm an IT geek turned cocktail slinger that been working in and around the beverage industry for 16+ years. During that time I've had the opportunity to work with some of the most influential beverage professionals and participate in some of the industry's most respected educational programs and spirit events.

ABOUT The Spaces

The Ogden Building and Wigman Co

The earliest Sanborns show various houses on the site. Sioux City Brass Works operated from this location in 1892 ran by Harry O. Woodruff, an electrician who was brought to Sioux City to provide electric light for the 1890 Corn Palace. He also started the Sioux City Electrical Supply Co. and ran until it's closure in 1907

W. L. Ogden likely purchased all buildings on site and had existing buildings demolished for the construction of the warehouse, which commenced in August of 1915. The name “Ogden Building” is simply a reference to his name. Wigman Co. had agreed to occupy the structure by October 1915 at the latest.

Wigman Co. was incorporated in August of 1915 and has operated in this same location since its inception. Countless numbers of patrons have graced the company over the last 106 years, as well as the generations of dedicated employees that have served the company and its customers.

Juniper Hills

Juniper Hills is a 68 acre slice of heaven located in Sioux City, Iowa. The property is boarded on three sides by either wildlife refuge or Stone State Park nestled in the Loess Hills. The Loess Hills of Iowa is a geologic formation spanning most of the western edge of the state. Loess (pronounced "luss") is a German word meaning "loose" and it is the name of a type of soil. Loess is a deposit of fine, yellowish-gray, clay-like sediment which can be found from north central Europe to eastern China and in the American Midwest.

The team at Sioux City Distilling Company is actively growing Juniper in the Loess Hills for use in the beautiful gin that will be produced here in Sioux City.

What's Coming

Sioux City Distilling Company plans big things with the restoration of the historic Ogden building.

The plans include an amazing production facility, a world class cocktail bar, large event spaces, a restaurant and more.
